It's all about the ladies!

A few images of ladies I recently put up for auction. I thought they deserved a post...

..at the edge of the void.

These are some great early snap shots from Yosemite. At the edge...brilliant!

...creepy little girls

Something about these photos is just strange. It's hard to explain, but they seem almost fake...almost contemporary in their matter of fact composition and subject.

...triptych

This is a great portrait series. The backdrop and compostion is crude, but the subject has a strange sensuality about her. She does not acknowledge the camera, but you know she is aware of its prescence. It's a shy, yet seductive portrait only enhanced by its "flaws".

...crossing lines

I have no idea what they were photographing? Maybe the worlds tallest telephone poll? Nevertheless, the vignetting adds to the creepy abstract appeal to this snap shot.

...her name is

With this woman just out of focus, the image has a mysterious quality. If it were sharp, I don't think it would be as intriguing? Because she's behind a "cloud", you want to ask yourself, what it this woman's name? Who is she...? The photo is close, and seems intimate, almost as though in love with the camera...or, photographer.

...image as artifact

This a small, yet beautiful photo with two frames on one 2x3 print. The photo has a lot of wear, but I feel that adds to the sentimentality of it as an "artifact".

...portrait of young farm couple?

I absolutely love this photo... although, I did sell it. I like how she is not looking at the camera, while his gaze is dead on into the lens. Also, their clothing is brilliant!

...take-off & landing.

The spirit of flight...?

...girl on a swing.

I believe this is one of those carnival type swings... I love how she's a blur exiting the frame. And, note the shoes...

...end of the roll

A happy accident, end of the roll, leads to surreal composition... "June"
has an "otherword" quality as she moves into the frame with the strange little house in the foreground.

..the new television.

I can't decide if they're all posing with a new TV, or, the radio? Maybe both?

...family portrait

This is a nice 5x7 photo of what appears to be a grouping of siblings. The photo is silent, serious, yet smirky and surreal. I like the quiet...

..a proud mason.

This particular piece has a great composition with the man half in the frame. The masonry work is exquisite... as an architect, I wish contemporary masonry was this well done.

First Image...

This is just one more blog...webpage, etc. dedicated to vernacular photography. While I have a large collection of Mourning Photography (http://www.mourningphoto.com/), I have an even larger collection of more mundane images. With over 75,000 vintage negatives, and countless prints, I thought it was time to start getting some of them out into the world. So, here's the first pic to get things going.
